CLINICAL AND PARACLINICAL CHARACTERISTICS OF STAGE III-III ESOPHAGEAL CANCER IN THAI NGUYEN NATIONAL HOSPITAL

Abstract:
The study aimed to describe some clinical and paraclinical characteristics of stage III-IVA esophageal cancer at Thai Nguyen National Hospital. From January 2021 to June 2024, we conducted a descriptive, retrospective plus prospective study of 39 stage III-IVA esophageal cancer patients treated with concurent chemoradiation. The results showed that: the mean age was 59.1± 8.3 years old. The percentage of male was 100%. The dysphagia rate was 94.9%, weight loss was found in 21/39 (53.8%), hoarseness 10.3. 53.8% had middlethird tumors. Most tumors were ulcerated masses (64.1%). 100% of patients were squamous cell carcinoma. Characteristics on Computed Tomography Scan: 66.7% invaded periesophageal fat, 100% patients have regional lymph nodes. 59% were in stage III, and 41% was in stage IVA.
