DIFFICULT AIRWAY IN ANESTHESIA: CASE REPORT
Overview
Abstract:
Background, objectives: Complications related to difficult airways are the main cause of perioperative mortality. Risk factors for difficult airway need to be identified in order to plan appropriate anesthesia and resuscitation. Awake fibreoptic intubation is the first choice for management of anticipated difficult airway. We report a clinical case where anticipated difficult airway was managed successfully with awake fibreoptic intubation.
Subjects, methods: Clinical case report.
Conclusion: It is very important to examine, evaluate airway before anesthesia to plan appropriate airway management. Awake fibreoptic intubation appears to be a valid and safe approach to manage anticipated difficult airway.
Keyword(s): Difficult airway, awake fibreoptic intubation.
