KNOWLEDGE OF THE LAW ON PREVENTION OF TOBACCO HARM AMONG 6TH-YEAR MEDICAL STUDENTS AT THE UNIVERSITY OF MEDICINE AND PHARMACY, THAI NGUYEN UNIVERSITY

Abstract:
The study was conducted among 382 sixth-year medical students at the University of Medicine and Pharmacy, Thai Nguyen University, using a cross-sectional descriptive research method. The results showed that 91.1% of the study participants scored above 50% of the total knowledge score. The percentage of participants scoring above 50% in each knowledge domain was as follows: knowledge of prohibited behaviors related to the buying, selling, transporting, production, and use of tobacco products (89.8%); knowledge of designated smoking areas and regulations on tobacco advertising and trading (86.1%); knowledge of completely smoke-free indoor and outdoor areas (82.7%); and knowledge of indoor and vehicle smoking bans, which was the lowest (51.3%). The university should continue enhancing the dissemination of the Law on Prevention and Control of Tobacco Harm to ensure that students fully understand provisions and can actively promote tobacco control within the community.
