PERIODONTAL DISEASE STATUS AND RELATED QUALITY OF LIFE IN ELDERLY IN HO CHI MINH CITY

Abstract:
Cross-sectional descriptive study conducted on 1350 adults aged 60 and older in Ho Chi Minh City with the goal of determining periodontal disease rate and its relation to quality of life. Each person is examined and assessed the situation with clinical periodontal index CPITN (Community periodontal index and Treatment Needs) and interviews about the quality of life according to the questionnaires OHIP - 14VN. Findings 72.9% of the elderly have periodontal disease areas in which 49% of the elderly tartar with the highest proportion. Periodontal disease may be associated with quality of life in the field of physical pain, the difference was statistically significant at p <0.05.
