Abstract:
Objectives: To determine the characteristics of antidiabetic drug use and some factors related to drug non-adherence in patients with type 2 diabetes treated as outpatients at the Department of Examination, TUMP’s Hospital in 2023. Subjects: 351 patients has been diagnosed with type 2 diabetes and is being examined and treated as an outpatient with health insurance coverage at the Department of Examination, TUMP’s Hospital from January 2023 to November 2023. Methods: cross-sectional description. Results: The proportion of outpatient type 2 diabetes patients who did not reach the target blood sugar was 52.99%; Patients with comorbid hypertension and lipid disorders account for 51.85% and 36.18%, respectively. Patients prescribed a regimen of 1 drug were 25.36%, 2 drugs were 57.55%, and 3 drugs were 17.09%. In which the 2-drug regimen Metformin + Gliclazide accounts for 37.89%, Metformin + Insulin accounts for 19.66%. The rate of patients complying with medication use is 84.05%. This study shows that there is a statistically significant difference between treatment duration, body mass index (BMI) and co-morbidities with medication non-adherence in type 2 diabetes patients ( p<0.05).
