Overview

Abstract:

Objectives: Describe clinical characteristic, narrow band imaging endoscopy (NBI) in patients with value of NBI and white light endoscopy with histopathological comparison in the diagnosis of injury esophageal due to gastroesophageal reflux. Subject and methods: A cross- sectional descriptive study with analysis was conducted on 79 patients with gastroesophageal reflux disease from October 2022 to Jun 2023 in Thai Nguyen Results: Narrow band imaging (NBI) helps detecting more cases of esophagitis than conventional endoscopy does, especially in grade A esophagitis (67,7% versus 51,9 %), sensitivity, specificity, accuracy are higher. In diagnosing Barret’s esophagus, NBI helps detecting more cases than conventional endoscopy with sensitivity 81,8%, specificity 94,1% and accuracy 92,4%. Conclusions: Narrow band imaging endoscopy should be widely used in the diagnosis of esophageal lesions in patients with gastroesophageal reflux disease.
