Overview

Abstract:

Background: Assisted reproductive facilities are using Timelapse technology more and more because to its exceptional benefits for monitoring embryos. These days, a lot of primary infertile couples choose for this method. Objective: To evaluate the results of in vitro fertilization in primary infertility patients using the Timelapse embryo culture system. Methods: Cross-sectional descriptive study, retrospective and prospective data collection on 57 primary infertility patients who transferred a frozen embryo on day 5 using the Timelapse embryo culture system. Results: The average number of oocytes was 12,1 ± 4,9 oocytes, the average number of fertilized oocytes was 8,1 ± 3,8, and the average number of embryos was 5,9 ± 2,8. Clinical pregnancy rate was 70,2%. The transferred embryos had an average KIDs score of 7,6 ± 1,8 points. Timelapse permits exact identification of important phases in embryo development, from two pronuclei appearance stage to blastocyst formation. Conclusions: There was a positive pregnancy rate for patients with primary infertility who used the Timelapse system for embryo monitoring. With Timelapse technology, every embryo division can be precisely and continuously monitored, including significant stages that are often missed when cultured in conventional incubators.
