Value of SNAP in Prognosis of Infant Mortality at the Thai Nguyen National Hospital
Overview
Abstract:
Objectives: To determine the value of death prognosis of transcript score for neonatal acute
physiology (SNAP) for infant.
Methods:A descriptive, cross sectional study with vertical track was carried out on 120 infants
hospitalized within 24 hours old in NICU of Pediatrics, Thai Nguyen National Hospital from
July to December 2021.
Results: Mortality rate was 18.3%. Most of them were males; below 12 hours old (67.5%);
below 37 weeks (69.2%); the weight below 2500 grams (62.5%); normal birth (57.5%).
SNAP point greater than or equal to 21 points often had high mortality rate of 83.3%. The
ones had points from 0 to 5 have lower mortality rate of 1.9%. The higher the SNAP point
was, the higher the mortality rate was. When the SNAP point was above 12, it had death
prognosis with sensitivity of 77.3% and specificity of 94.9%. Acreage below curve ROC was
0.922 with p<0.01.
Conclusion: The score of SNAP >12 has a sensitivity and specificity là 77.3% and 94.9% in
predicting death, respectively. Area under the curve of SNAP was 0,922
