Objectives
Knowledge:
• Present requirements on operation lines and techniques in microbiology laboratories.
• Present the values, advantages and limitations of clinical microbiological laboratory methods.
• Present the regulations in taking, preserving and transporting specimens for microbiological tests.
• Distinguish sterilization, disinfection, cleaning and decontamination.
• Apply knowledge of biosafety in microbiological testing practice.
Skills:
• Proficiently operate oven, autoclave in sterilization.
• Perform correctly the management procedure of overflowing and spilling in microbiological laboratory.
• Perform proficiently the technique of Gram staining and Ziehl-Neelsen staining.
• Prepare the environment used in bacterial culture to ensure quality requirements.
• Perform the process of culture of specimens for microbiological tests.
• Be expert in performing technique of antibiogram for zoning of diffuse antibiotic paper.
Attitude:
• Exercise carefully, honestly; ensure accuracy and authenticity in performing and interpreting results of clinical microbiological testing techniques.
• Be aware of the importance of compliance with laboratory biosafety regulations.
• Be aware of the value of microbiological tests according to technical expertise.
